Alisa started off the day she married Alex in the most memorable way. She sat down in her pretty brides robe, opened a box full of notes, and read letters from all her friends and loved ones written just for her. What a beautiful way to start a day like this.
This beautiful couple had both their ceremony and reception at the beautiful St. Andrews Golf and Country Club in West Chicago, Illinois. The ceremony is a stunning setting at the end of a long, winding cart path that ends at a small lake surrounded by tall oaks. during the ceremony, it was such a peaceful scene and a family of ducks even landed at the most perfect moment. It was just so pretty (I originally wrote “truly lovely” and then realized I don’t ever say “truly lovely” in real life and have been trying to write more like I talk lately).
When I asked the couple what was extra special to them about their wedding, they told me they had each made a very short list of things that were important to them to include in their wedding. One of the most special was writing their own vows. “Making those promises to each other in front of our loved ones was very beautiful and moving.”
Alisa’s something blue was a gift from her mom. It was a bouquet charm with a photograph of her late grandparents. It was a very sweet detail that made Alisa feel like they were there with her and she was very close to them, so it meant so much.
Advice from the bride to other couples planning a wedding:
“Remember this day is about the two of you and the love you have for one another. Planning a wedding can be stressful but the day will be well worth it. Any obstacles you face will only make you stronger.
Anything that happens on your day makes it your day. Don’t stress about it being perfect. It is the day you become one with the love of your life- isn’t that perfect already?! Go with the flow and enjoy.
Remember to take moments to yourselves on your wedding day. It goes by so incredibly fast. Make sure to take a step back with your husband/wife and take in how amazing this day is. “
